ugh, so this girl Kerli really pisses me off, but unfortunately I'm really enjoying this track "the creationist" from her album "love is dead." it's all too hot topic, but the track is quite good. le sigh.

mario gets the full treatment with this mix by the remix artist collective. it would feel right at home on an ed banger compilation.

a swede

although ex-lambretta singer linda sundblad only faired modestly with her debut solo record -- the brilliantly titled "oh my god!!" -- the album had a decent amount of worthy tracks. "back in time" is a personal favorite.

seven years later!

having done the rounds for 7 years as a looped clip, "she'll never be me" from the "britney" sessions finally hit the net. did it live up to all the fuss?

give me a memory to carry for life.

swedish dance/pop act september has been enjoying much success throughout europe this past year with the hit "satellites." however, on the album "in orbit" lies an equally good track called "midnight heartache." the song samples the classic "bette davis eyes" by kim carnes. the track was never used as a single, but remains a fan favorite. enjoy!

the stranger sang a theme.

mono were a short lived band from the 90s, known for their hit "life in mono," which has recently been covered by emma bunton for her forthcoming album. mono were pretty much a one-hit-wonder goldfrapp. they consisted of Siobhan de Maré on vocals and Martin Virgo producing their work. their sound was very electronic and atmospheric, yet reminiscent of the 60s at the same time. enjoy their original hit, "life in mono."

je t'aime affection.

not too long ago, a woman named jentina, aka queen of chavs, unsuccessfully tried to launch a rap career. when her heinous debut single "bad ass strippa" failed to produce any success, virgin records called up hit-woman cathy dennis and had her fork over the track "french kisses," which is actually quite good.
complete with a skittery beat laced with a string loop, the song is undeniably catchy. check out the original and a remix below.

blow out this flame, let it shine on

a hit a few years ago from parisian band aloud, "sex and sun" became a huge hit in clubs thanks to remixes from eric prydz. the song is full of synths and electric guitar and you can't help but yearn for summer while listening to it. definitely a feel good track.

once again, we bust a red light.

i've decided to repost this song because i'm still in love with it almost a year later. "spiral" is by william orbit featuring kenna & the sugababes on vocals. as I posted last january, william orbit is the man behind blur's album "13" and madonna's "ray of light." he has also done tracks with pink ("feel good time"), no doubt ("making out"), u2 ("electrical storm") and all saints ("pure shores").
"spiral" is one of those songs that puts you in a complete zone. it's particularly excellent to listen to whilst drunk.

how many times do i have to call the five-oh?

this monday sees the release of the third album by all saints. it is their first release in six years since they split up in 2000. the album, titled "studio 1" in homage to the legendary reggae studio, features the saints familiar quirky electro sounds with the addition of some reggae and ska sounds thanks to producers greg kurstin and rick nowels.
a standout track, "scar," is laced with a horn solo and contains the amazing line "how many times do I have to call the five-oh/if you do it again your ass will end up in jail-oh." enjoy, and be sure to check out the album.

i am your destiny calling.

on their third album "scream," swedish pop rockers melody club take the fun aspects of the killers and multiply them by 100. the result is an album electropoprock album full of catchy hooks. lead single "destiny calling" is bound to be stuck in your head for days. look out for the US debut early next year. below is the video, mp3 of "destiny calling," and link to purchase the album.

close every door, putting everything aside.

today's song is one of the most amazing pieces of eurotrash electro pop in history. from the vocodered intro to the fierce anthem of a chorus, the song is what brillant europop is all about. "closer to perfection" is a swedish pop gem that unfortunately will most likely become a forgotten track in bargain bins across the world (it perhaps already has).
while wetting myself over the news of marie serneholt's debut album "enjoy the ride" coming out on march 29th, I began to go through my a*teens albums and rediscovered this utterly amazing song, which I played countless times during the summer of 2002. the track came from the a*teens third american album, "pop 'till you drop" and the european equivalent, "new arrival," which boasted a far more impressive cover and tracklisting. the cover is pure sex, one of my favorite album covers of all time. the song is just as good. cheers and enjoy.

i'm talking to the mirror at 5am.

abs breen is a former member of british boyband five, known for such songs as "when the lights go out." Five were a short lived boyband, not that anyone really cared I don't think, but richard "abs" breen went on to record a glorious solo album, released in 2003.
after three singles, "what u got," "stop sign" and "miss perfect," the album "abstract theory" was released in the uk. though it enjoyed moderate success, plans to release a fourth single, "7 ways," were scrapped. the song remains to be one of the best songs on the album, produced by the always fantastic xenomania. it features great vocals from abs in addition to a haunting chorus sung by some unknown hook girl; great nonetheless. enjoy.
